[Edaily, reporter Lee Yeon-ho] The Ministry of Science and ICT announced on the 11th that it had selected three outstanding research teams in the finals of the '2018 AI R&D Challenge' held on the 5th, which focused on finding synthetic photos, with 40 teams participating. Unlike the traditional method of selecting research institutions through research proposals, the AI R&D Challenge selects outstanding teams through technical competitions with specific challenging goals and provides follow-up R&D support. This year's challenge problem was to develop AI software for detecting synthetic photos.
